In response to Looking for a good book? posted by Carol331:

rarely! much of what i've been told by others is good (for them) has not been good (for me)! i read "where the heart is" by billi letts and "she's come undone" by wally lamb well before there was an oprah's book club! (i have the paperbacks w/out the logo to prove it!) and though i love janet fitch's "white oleandar," i read it without knowing it was an oprah book club selection! the discount sticker was placed over the logo!! i mainly browse the new releases sections at the book stores and libraries and go with whatever catches my attention at that moment and see what happens! i also follow up on authors i take a liking to.
