"When was the last time you visited your local library? Do you feel that they are responding to your needs as a reader?"
I visit the library about once a week, sometimes more often, sometimes less. Last week we returned a magazine and a dvd. And then promptly borrowed another magazine and were surprised that we were allowed to borrow the latest issue. When we lived across the border, in another state, we weren't allowed to borrow the most current issue.
Yes, overall I think that the library system is more than satisfactory. There's internet and computer access, cds, dvds, books, magazines, reading clubs, community information, etc. I can access stuff at home on the internet via the library system. I enjoy looking at the library and community displays. And it's great that if you spot something you like in a display you can usually borrow it right away.
I just get annoyed with people using mobile phones and having loud conversations. As a child I was taught to be very quiet in a library.

My local library has gotten better about ordering recent titles but there are still a lot of holes in their selection offerings. I don't borrow from them because I had problems with them a few years ago, and I don't visit often.I was a little spoiled when I lived in Detroit. They have fabulous libraries!
